Celia's new sound system.

It's a rainy Sunday morning, Mother's Day in fact. The fire is going, I have a plunger coffee at hand, and some cool sounds playing on my new hi-fi system. It doesn't get much better than this.

The Internet radio station The Jazz Groove www.jazzgroove.org has become my default choice of music when I can’t be bothered choosing.  Based in San Francisco, they describe themselves as "Jazz that’s laid-back. Cool. Elegant. That’s The Jazz Groove” - a description that is spot on. This station provides the perfect back drop of sounds for a relaxing way to start the day, and continue enjoying in the background as I muddle about doing chores, cooking, reading…

I listen to this via a rather nice little system that is attractive, quite unobtrusive, and provides a surprisingly great sound. Being a little technically challenged, I needed a system that was fool proof and simple to use. Luckily I have a husband who could set up something perfect just for me! I have a Naim Uniti Atom, Totem speakers with a ……boomer. My iPhone (a Christmas gift from my husband, sons and their partners) allows me to control everything this system can do. I just open the Naim App and away I go. If I want to choose my own music, I have a server with my chosen music on it which I can select via the phone App and choose the artist, album or songs I want to hear.

I have recently learned how to use bluetooth via the Atom. I can choose a YouTube clip (it was Pussycat “Mississippi”) on my lap top, then 'pair' this to the Atom, and voila - I can hear it through the speakers. Amazing. I suspect there are other things this little Atom can do, but for now I am more than happy with my set up.

(Techie Husband's note: Speakers are Totem Kin Mini's, and the "boomer" is a Totem Kin Mini Subwoofer. The Atom can play sound from the small tv mounted on the wall. Stored music playback is via a Synology Nas drive running MinimServer)
